Those who include the mixing of their tarot cards prior to their reading will no doubt come across cards that are turned upside down. These cards are normally called "reverse" and have separate meanings than their upright counterparts. There are those learners who take these cards in a spread and upright their positioning, only taking those meanings into account for the reading. There is nothing wrong with this and according to a pole taken on the Sleepy Forest Instagram there are quite a few of you who's technique omits the use the Reversed cards. Considering that the Reversed meanings of the cards are often times negative reflections of their Upright counterparts the fear is understandable but the refusing to include half of the system can also lead to the missing information the cards are trying to tell you. You can attribute reading tarot to psychic driving. While you are reading, you are the blind driver asking the cards for direction. Would you rather they let you know about the cliff you might be about to drive over or keep the more dangerous and negative aspects to themselves. Hermetic Principal of Polarity dictates that everything has its opposite. Night has Day, Up has Down, The Tree of Life has the Tree of Death or the Qlipoth, and Upright Tarot meanings have Reversed. Take a look through most sources on Tarot and you will find that many of the reverse meanings in the books are negative or lesser meanings, so much so that there are constantly people looking for advice on how to relay readings with particularly harsh messages. To those people I give the gentle reminder that The Tarot isn't exactly a divination system that has been known for sugar coating the messages it relays. If there is something to be said, the cards will tell it to you and new learners may shy away from the bluntness of Tarot. Every reader has their own style and if you have found one that works for you stick to it. Your magic is your own. Be aware though that there are Layers and layers of the tarot that not using the reversed meanings will cause you not to see. We believe that Cross training is important in Magic and having the knowledge of reversed meanings in your magic supply may come in handy. -TwT

Inspiration of the Fool is a what I refer to as a Pinpoint spread. The idea being that Card 0 (In this example, The Fool) can be the lenses through which the reader can understand the other cards. Card 0 represents the card that best corresponds to what you would like to know. As the title suggests, the Fool card represents inspiration in this spread, and the following cards From the left to the right represent the Trigger, the Cause, and the effect (loosely) The example depicted above was a reading from the Daily Tarot, on the @Sleepyforestacademy Instagram that is interpreted as Emotional capacity and the productivity using will, brings the ability to cast off those illusions that may blind you in your pursuit of deeper meanings and deeper knowledge. Card 0 The Fool (Inspiration to change, the search for a new journey) Card 1 Ace Cups (Emotional mastery. The seed of Emotional inspiration.) Card 2 7 Swords (Unmasking illations, piercing the veil so to speak. Not falling for deceptions) Card 3 7 Cups (Knowledge of inner worlds. The copious options. Dreamworlds and illusions) In order for the spread to work as intended there is an order of operations. Mix your cards as you see fit and clear your mind. This is the expulsion and banishing of things not associated with what directly relates to your reading. Mixing your cards is the symbol of mixing the universe. Collect your cards and focus, in your mind, on the image of your (Card 0). Again, in this example it was the Fool. Reveal cards from the top of the deck until you find (Card 0) Following (Card 0), Reveal cards from the top until you find 3 cards in a row that are NOT major Arcana in a row. This is the (Focus) part of your reading and what can lead to the reading lookin a lot like Example 2. The Focus is where you tune yourself to the issue or event in question and the requirement of no major arcana sets a parameter for your magic energies. It is what tells your mind or your muscles what effect you would like produced in response to doing this set of things. A Magic key to be frank If a spread contains a Major Arcana continue till the set of three is complete, and lay the next set on top of it. Once you have your (Cards 1-3) read the set as Card 1: The Spark or reason behind Card 2 Card 2: The Effect Produced or the necessary action required to bring about Card 3 Card 3: The Goal, the Aim, the Why -TwT

The following list is more accurately called "Kiss Correspondents" but as they can also evoke differing emotions based on location, and for the fun of it, we call hold them in the regard of a "Charm". As always, make sure to acquire permission before testing, or using any of your magic on others. Love spells of any form will (almost) always backfire. "Mastering this illusory world within can grant you control over emotions and actions of our dark or shadow self & the Moon can act as a guide for this process." Introduction In July of 2020 Tic-Toc witches attempted to hex the moon. Not to long after that, the platform was facing a potential ban from the US. While I could use this opportunity to talk about how we are all lucky that that's the least that happened, instead we are going to use it as a learning example and Segway into how the moon can, instead, assist with your craft. The Moon is a vital part of not just witchcraft but many kinds of magic & spirituality as it can serve as a kind of ruler. Its phases and symbology make it a perfect starting point for New Students of any practice and an staple page in any witches Grimoire. The {Real} Moon The Moon has a Sidereal orbit period of about 27 days (The time it takes to orbit 360 around earth) & a Synodic orbit of 29.5 days, (The time it takes for the moon to cycle through all 8 phases.) In most cases there are 12 Synodic Cycles giving us the 12 named Full moons {One for each month}, however occasionally (Every 33 lunar cycles or so) there is a 13th full moon called a Blue moon. One of the most familiar features of the moon are her 8 phases. Depending on what part side of the planet earth you live on you may see them in a different order, however this does not change the fact that we recognize the same 8 phases. (Figure 1) The brightest side of the moon is always facing the sun regardless of its phase. This accounts for why a New Moon always rises with the sun in the morning and why and Full moon is brightest during the darkest point of night. As the Earth orbits the Sun and the Moon orbits the Earth the amount of illumination provided causes the shadow of the Moon to creep across her face giving us these 8 distinct phases as in (Figure 2) In addition, and as many of you may already know, the Moon's natural gravitation has an effect on the tides of our planet. It exerts enough of a pull to create what are knowns as Neap and Spring Tides. A Neap Tide happens during the 1st and third Quarter of the Moon. During this time The Sun and Moons position are 90 degrees from one another, pulling in different directions making tides seem lower than if it were a spring tide. The Spring Tide occurs when the Sun and Moon are in conjunction and opposition. This dual force pulling in like directions makes the tide greater. (Figure 3) The {Mental} Moon The Phases of the Moon and their meanings begin to blead into the mental universe in that they can correlate to what is called the 8 circuit model of consciousness. Popularized by Timothy Leary and further elaborated and emphasized by Robert A. Wilson the theory suggests that the human conscious goes through 8 stages of development on the proverbial road to transcendence. To learn more on each of them you can read the book Prometheus Rising, or listen to "The Whole Rabbit" podcast episode on it (part 2). While the direct connection is not made we can see a similarity by comparing the 8 Moon Phases with the 8 circuits: -The Bio Survival Circuit = "I am" The New Moon What is safe, what is not safe and can be equated to becoming aware of darkness -The Anal Territorial Circuit = "I Desire" The Dark Crescent Moon What is mine, what is not and can be equated to ones desires within the self -The Semantic / Time Binding Circuit = "I Control" The 1st Quarter Moon Where you learn about Symbols, shapes and letters. Your initial sparks of control over the cosmos. -The Socio-sexual Circuit = "I Love" Waxing Gib. Moon The stage concerned with imprinting sexual and sexual-emotional emotions. -The Neurosamantic Circuit = "I Express" The Full Moon The Awareness of and Expression of that Love in a non physical sense. -The Metaprogramming Circuit = "I {am} Witness" Waning Gib. Moon The awareness to your prior and ability to edit the prior Circuits -The Morphogenetic Circuit = "I reflect" The 3rd Quarter Moon The awareness to your past as a whole, as it relates to your ancestors and predecessors. -The non Local Quantum Circuit = "I" The Balsamic / Light Crescent Moon The connection to the "All Soul" or "God" The supreme collective conciseness connection. The {Spiritual} Moon While the sun represents all the things we are conscious of our Ego and how we act in front of others the spiritual Moon is said to represent the transformation process within us all as well as the darker natural inner workings that make and protect us. These are or reactions instincts and emotional habits. She is a reminder of our deeper more natural self and the rebirth and resurrection of the spirit. It's Tarot Card tells of the Fears of Illusion, The Darkness within and the wisdom gained from exploring this darkness. Mastering this illusory world within can grant you control over emotions and actions of our dark or shadow self & the Moon can act as a guide for this process. It leads one to the deepest darkest corners of the mind in order to put you face to face with you shadows. The Yang within the Yin so to speak. The Moon, has a mainly Femininity connotation that also reflects itself in the pantheon of deities tasked with representing it along with its relation & control to water and emotions. Pisces, Scorpio and Cancer are the Zodiac signs associated with this celestial body where Artemis, Tsukuyomi, Selene and perhaps one of the most recognized images, The Triple Goddess, are all aligned with it as well. This Feminine aspect found across the board allows us insight into the mythos behind its meanings its natural receptiveness, and hints at the underlying nature within all of us. That nature, said to be the darker hidden animalistic nature lies within that dark forest in us and the Moon tells us to confront it examine it and know it. Not necessarily tame it, as there are parts of your nature that are not meant to be tamed but knowing the boundaries and the potential is more useful than not. In addition to aligning with the 8 circuit model the moons phases and orbit aligns with the many spiritual calendars. One of which being the Wiccan Calendar of the year. This Calendar allowed for the tracking of the Wiccan Sabbats on a monthly scale, as well as the best times to preform particular rituals or spells.

Curses wanna talk curses? Lets talk curses. First and foremost a spell of any kind is a tool. Curse, hex, blessing, or otherwise. They, despite being ×made× of magic (a force that by definition technically untamable ) for this explanation we have to set the grounds that when you're casting a curse you are using magic as a tool for your own "reasons" whatever they may be. alright? okay alright? okay. Cool Now, What makes the energy or the particular spell a curse can be any number of things each one as arguable as the next. Where all of these voices meet harmony however is in the fact that curses are expensive and that they come from a darker* side of magic so to speak. For our example we are going to use a basic binding curse you can use positively. . . or negatively. The happy medium we're going to look at is the moon. Or as we love to call it love to call [the magic ruler📏] Many would say that the best time to cast a curse is during a new moon. This tells us two bits of information. 1) The New Moon is the (I am) of the phases. Good for banishing, divination, and soul searching. The phase that tells us to look literally into our own darkness and consider what we want. In the cycle of moon phases the new moon comes between the preparing and resting phase. Its synonymous to Yule. The darkest part of the year. After all the harvest and whatnot. it could be this relations that gives the moon it's darker inner more deconstructive energy. But the cool part is that curses let you "bend the universe a bit" in that you get to make selfish request. (For a price) You get to tell he universe what you want. And to be honest that's not something a lot of people have the ability to do. But hey, it's "Christmas". (For a price) But anyway the most popular curses bind or restrict in some way. The destruction of ones power. Or the sealing away of something. (MRK-arcanum copula-MCK [mystery band]) is a 1 day sealing curse used to place a restriction on a small thing like a habit a negative though or a hamster. A "cloth" band around the subject wrist sealing a portion of the casters "vibes chi magic energy etc" in exchange for the restriction or sealing of the *thing*. The bonus is that the habit or thing in question for 24hours is sealed, the downside is that if the seal is broken the power is lost for good. On the other hand in the event that you can manage to not break the seal the power used will be returned at the end of the day with an bit of an increase. [Like a magic bank or something] For that example a curse is used positively. Of course you can use it to restrict your "friends" too but we wouldn't want that. And we often find that the cost for curses are much greater than those of other spells and have a higher rate of "backfire" so to speak. This is the favorite depiction in media as we see often this is a staple in media but with all magic if you can mitigate the circumstances and Known What THE HECK YOURE DOING magic is a free court. "Do as ye may and harm none" is the way. And 2) because the new moon is best for these types of spells, youre going to be casting your curses in broad daylight. The new moon rises with the sun so if youre going to be casting curses the early bird gets the work child. Hope this helps Azphelumbra students.

Your magic notebook can be more than just a piece of your magic aesthetic. A witches magic journal, often referred to as a Grimoire or a Book of Spells is a collective of knowledge gathered throughout that practitioners journey. There is a lot to learn in magic and as a force that is more fluid than solid, you'll want to make sure you have a hard copy of the things you have learned and believe. As you'll learn in your Basics class, magic may change its form depending on the viewer. On that same note, your relationship with magic may also change with the absorption of new paradigms and new knowledge. Your notebook retains knowledge as you remember it by your own hand~ While learning, I advise keeping a hand written magic journal. Artistic merit not required but the idea is to "Put yourself onto the page." {We do this literally in one of your 1st assignments} The practice can be meditative and produces a material manifestation of the etherical. Plus you will be creating a "key" so to speak, that you can reference any time you're need to go back and check your foundation. Magic isn't always written in plain English and in many cases not in English at all. Having a quick unchanging "key" that you can trust is vital to your learning. In addition to this, having a hand written Book of Shadows keeps your particular practice free of prying eyes online~ Even more so if, like me, you enjoy writing in alternative scripts such as Runes or Theban.

Rising: The beginning of Creation Sun: Creation Moon: Avarice, dissatisfaction with material circumstances, something was born but is not allowed to grow. Element: Earth Path 15: Heh From Wisdom to Beauty // Beauty to Wisdom 1998- The Now Defunct National Organization for the Repeal of the Federal Reserve and international Revenue Code or "NORFED" released the silver rounds depicted into circulation with the help of Sunshine Minting. These "Liberty Dollars" have were, as their Monetary Architect creator Bernard Von NotHaus deemed them, not a currency or "Legal Tender," but a bartering tool that could be used alongside of or in place of the USD. "A private Currency for those conducting business outside of the governments purview. "According to von NotHaus, Liberty Dollars are a “private voluntary barter currency" (http://www.libertydollar.org/legal/pdf/110707.brief.pdf) 2006- With Millions of coins now in circulation The Liberty Dollar catches the eye of the United States Mint, who makes an official Warning post on their website and sends Von NotHause a reminder that circulating any form of currency is a Federal Crime. Much to his confusion as the Silver Medallions were never advertised as such. The effect produced by this warning letter was a strong blow to the popularity of the system, but it did not deter many of the users of the NORFED round who still trusted in its Silver backed Value. Banks, of course, did not accept his money; however, to ensure that it found its way only into hands that wanted to use it, Mr. von NotHaus placed a toll-free number and a URL address on the currency he produced. If people mistakenly got hold of it, they could mail it back to Evansville and receive its equivalent in actual dollar bills. 2007- The FBI raids 2 tons of coinage. Roughtly 500LB silver and 40-50LB of Gold as the rounds came in $1 $5 $10 $20 Silver and $500 gold rounds each as the medallion would coincide with the monetary Value of the alloy or metal embedded within there the base value was set at $20. NotHaus stood by his stetement that his purpose was to "combat devaluation with a currency based on precious metals and asserted that he was not involved in “a radical armed offense against the government or their money.” 2011- a jury found him guilty after a 90-minute deliberation.

In preparation for our quarterly (and hopefully daily as time goes by) Astrological forecast we wanted to give a crash course in planetary meanings for those who are not familiar with the fact that you are more than just your Sun sign. As with many things magic Astrology is just as simple as it is complex in its makeup and deciphering. You are much MUCH more than just your sun sign. In fact, in the past your astrological chart was something therapists would use in order to better assist in helping their patience and you can use the same system to find out more about yourself. Keep in mind however that you are more than the stars you were born under. Your birth chart, astrological sign, and other "classifications" are but a possibility for your future. The Basic -Leo- Many of you are already familiar with your Sun sign. It is the Sign associated with your birthday. Think of it as your name tag. Your basic interests, likes and dislikes. It is your Masculine Father planet and it shows how you identify yourself. (I am) The Inner you -Cancer- Your moon sign is the inner you. Like the moon it is the part of you that can Shine brightly when illuminated or hide within the shadows of your sun sign. It is your emotional ruler and as the Sun is associated with your father and the masculine, the moon is the ever loving mother. (I feel) The Symbol of Communication -Gemini/Virgo- Chances are you've heard of this planet being the blame for many mishaps when it goes Retrograde (Rx) and this is because it rules over your communication , thinking and how you learn. So naturally when its in reverse all of the instincts you've worked so hard to sharpen go right out the metaphorical window. (I think) Your relationship guardian -Tarus Libra- How are you in relationships. How do you love. use it to find the best way to express your feelings, find how you attract people, and what you consider beautiful. Not all love is the same. And Judging by the position of the blue gem may be the difference between your feelings being heard and falling on deaf ears. (I love) Your Passion, Your Fire -Aries- Mars, the god of war, and passion. How do you get motivated and what do you do it for? This planet shines light on achievements and sexual drive. This planet tells you what to get up for and what to fight for. (I act) Your Luck and growth -Saggitarius- Law and Education are the spaces governed by the mega planet Jupiter. It shows where you are lucky and abundant. Where will there be grow, where did all those luck points go when you were born. What are your Ethics and how do you mitigate what is right and Wrong? This planet speaks philosophy and knowledge, what we learn well and where we lack. (I grow) The planet of Limits -Capricorn- Limits are placed to be both overcome and used as precautions. This planet helps you chose when to push your boundaries and when you've a lesson to learn from them. It reveals your ambitions and work ethics. In its shadow you can see where you may feel you are falling short. (I achieve) Freedom to Change -Aquarius- So just how weird is weird? Uranus tells us about our freedom of expression and rebellion against that which is considered the "norm." How much of you will you allow to shine through the cracks? Intuition and gut feelings are controlled by this planet you are to rebel against the norm. To grow, and to be unique. (I evolve) The Deeper self and Spirit -Pisces- Like its sister blue planet Neptune is about the imaginary world. It rules the dream plane and the illusions and addictions of which we are all afflicted. The magic and the illusion and the things we use to reach it, food drugs alcohol and anything else used to escape reality. "I dream" Your Power -Scorpio- Empowerment is a tough job for the planet so far from the sun. It is like a battery used to charge different aspects of your life. This planet shows where the bigger changes in life may be and how to gain the power to overcome them. Or perhaps it will show where we are powerless and in that case allow power to be attained through realization. (I empower)
